This has a reference to our telephonic conversation at about 6.30 PM last evening apropos having registered in your organisation as a Home Tutor FOR THE CAUSE OF THE DEVELOPMENT OF YOUNG, BUDDING MINDS OF THE FUTURE GENERATION OF KOLKATA.

In this context let me place before you a brief introductory profile of myself (FROM A DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVE, SEPARATE FROM YOUR ONLINE ENROLLMENT PROFORMA).
THERE ARE MANY OTHER ASPECTS OF A HUMAN BEING THAT CANNOT BE REVEALED IN A TRADITIONAL/REGULAR ONLINE PROFORMA.

I’m Ashish Das with long years of experience in managerial cadre in the corporate (hospitality) sector and in the teaching profession, imparting education to undergrads. aspiring to be hotel and catering professionals.

During my younger days, after The Daly College Indore (one of the top ten co-ed boarding schools in India, established in 1870) and Graduation in Science from Asutosh College, in addition to the regular Hotel Management course, I had done a PGP in Accommodation Operation and Management from the Institute of Hotel Management Catering Technology and Applied Nutrition (Govt. of India institute), an MBA, a Masters in Tourism all from IGNOU, in addition to diploma and PG Diploma level courses. I’ve also been exposed to Computer Programming and general computing at R. E. College (now NIT), Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) in the late 1980s and IGNOU respectively.

I’ve also worked in two hospitals in the administrative and the food service (catering) wing, before settling down in the teaching profession.

BUT WHAT IS OF UTMOST IMPORTANCE AND RELEVANT IN THE CURRENT CONTEXT, I’VE BEEN IMPARTING HOME TUITIONS OFF AND ON SINCE THE MID 1990s (IF I RECALL CORRECTLY, SINCE MY B. Sc. DAYS, ACTUALLY, LATE 1980s…….) WHENEVER I FIND TIME (AND GET THE OPPORTUNITY) TO DO SO.

MY PREFERRED SUBJECTS ARE:

SCIENCE WITH MATHS AND COMPUTER SCIENCE.

PREFERRED CLASSES:

6th, 7th upto 10th standard……, where a strong foundation/base in Maths and Science is required to be built for higher grades in 10 + 2 and for future endeavours/pursuits in the areas of maths, science, engineering, accounting and finance, economics and to crack State and Central level competitive exams.

TO DISPEL FEAR OF MATHEMATICS FROM UPPER PRIMARY AND SECONDARY CLASS STUDENTS…….. TO BE THE STARTING POINT.

Learning a great deal from real life situations; correlate maths with her/his immediate surroundings, family and society…..to ensure that a pupil uses real and concrete things (like a scaffold) to develop abstract ideas. The moment the pupil is able to construct knowledge he/she will gradually try to discover Maths in things around him/her and thus, the subject will become a source of logical and joyful learning.

At upper Primary level, students are to gradually get an idea that the different branches of Maths like Arithmetic, Algebra, Geometry and Statistics are Interlinked. For example, Algebra is a generalised form of Arithmetic. In Geometry, if we take a point ‘x’ on a straight line, then x can assume different values. Thus, Geometry and Algebra are correlated, and so on and so forth…..

Conducting the Continuous Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) from time to time……

Eventually leading to the personal perseverance for developing ‘THE ABILITY FOR MATHEMATISATION’ in the child.

PREFERABLY 6TH, 7TH AND 8TH STANDARD (ENGLISH MEDIUM) TO BEGIN WITH.

May also cater to Class 5 student depending on the nature of the requirement and gravity of the situation.
